Description

It's been ages since I've updated Zelimir's app, so I thought it was about time to spice things up with a new design as well.
I can't believe that Zel's in his 7th year

BASIC INFORMATION::

Name: Zelimir Holst
Age: His physical appearance places him in his mid-20s, but Zelimir is actually much older: roughly 280.
Height: 6'0"
Species: Djinn
Species Description:
(This particular definition of a djinn is adapted for this character) A djinn, like a genie, has the ability to grant a specific number of wishes. A djinn is required to fulfill an individual's first three wishes. After that, they are able to ignore the wishes, but they will still feel inclined to grant them. They also have some power over elemental magic; the element varies depending on the individual, and it is rare for a djinn to be able to naturally control more than one element. However, it is not impossible for them to be able to learn to control more elements.

Abilities:
Intermediate Fire Magic:
As a djinn, Zelimir has the natural ability to control one element; in his case, this element is fire. He is able to conjure up small balls of fire, and his handle on the element has increased as he has been practicing his control. He is also able to maintain a flame of a specific flame for a moderate amount of time, as well as alter that element so that it doesn't burn anything (which is counter-intuitive, as he likes to point out). He is also able to direct his energy towards a specific target; while he is able to manipulate all the elements he has learned, he is best attuned to his original element, fire, and it is the one that he has the easiest time controlling.

Basic Wind Magic:
It's been several terms since he's gained the ability to manipulate wind, but because of his lack of practice, Zelimir still only has basic control over the element. He's slowly getting accustomed to the element's lively nature, and finds it easier to call the element each time he uses it. He also finds it much more cooperative than when he first learned windmancy. He still holds the dream of being able to fly with it's help one day.

Basic Water Magic:
Zelmir is still surprised that he is now able to manipulate the element polar opposite of his own. He doesn't rely on this element much, therefore his skills remain at an elementary level. Unable to conjure the element out of thin air like fire or wind, Zelimir knows he needs to improve his handle of drawing water from the air and earth around him. Despite his lack of talent in this specific area, learning to control water has slowly helped Zelimir overcome his fear of deep bodies of water...although it's still a long way until he completely conquers said fear.

Basic Energymancy:

Energymancy is the newest achievement Zelimir can add to his list of elementalism accomplishments. Despite it being the newest element that he has learned, Zelimir already has ranked it as his second favourite element; the raw energy and excitement of electricity reminded him of fire. He is able to manipulate electricity, specifically during a thunderstorm, and has a decent amount of control over it due to one of his assignments. However, more practice is needed for him to comfortably control it (although he will likely put in the practice because of his instant liking towards the element).

Basic Chronomancy:

Having passed two classes, Zelimir understands the basics of Chronomancy, and even has an enhancer to prove it. He does, however, lack practical application. All of his chronomancy knowledge is purely theoretical...at least for the moment.

Wish Granting:
Because of his species, Zelimir has the ability to grant peoples' wishes. However, as he hasn't had much practice (as he is often reluctant to grant more than the required amount of wishes), so he has trouble granting more complex wishes. Those who make wishes should be wary - they don't always turn out as planned be careful with your wording!

PERSONAL INFORMATION::
This section remains mostly unchanged from previous apps

Likes:
• Blame his affinity for the element, but Zelimir is enticed by fire. He can't help but be drawn to flames, so if you're ever trying to find him, wait by the fireplace or strike a match, and he'll find his way there eventually.
Jewelry, especially anything that shines. He loves wearing it (as you see by all of the gold that he's wearing).
Spicy foods are his absolutely favourite.
• He loves listening to music in his free time, and is not limited to any particular genre. And as much as he loves listening to it, Zelimir has little to no talent when it comes to singing or playing an instrument.
There's nothing that Zelimir likes more than traveling. He loves to explore new places, and see what other parts of the world have to offer.

Dislikes:
• Despite being a djinn, he hates being ordered around, aka granting peoples' wishes. He often finds what people wish for to be pointless and it doesn't help that he's unable to grant any of his own wishes
• It probably has to do with the whole fire thing, but Zelimir hates the cold. Snow, rain, ice...he hates all of it. He often spends his winters indoors.
• One thing that Zelimir does not have is a sweet tooth, therefore he often avoids sugary foods.
• Once place you will never find this djinn is in the library; reading doesn't interest him, and even if he tries to pick up the book, he often ends up zoning out or making fun of the story.
He may not look like the type, but Zelimir prioritizes cleanliness. He can't stand sloppy and dirty people/places, and will not hide his disgust from these people.

Strengths:
A resistance to fire: Once again, we return to his element. Because Zelimir is able to conjure fire (to some extent) he's unable to be harmed by it. Although he himself is unable to be burned or feel pain by touching it, it's only his skin and hair that are resistant.
Calm under pressure: Because of his stubborn attitude, Zelimir doesn't crack under pressure. On the contrary, he actually thrives in those situations. When given little time to make a decision, Zelimir trusts himself and his instincts to make the correct one with the amount of information available.
High stamina: If not just to maintain his appearance, Zelimir doesn't mind working out; he particularly likes going on jogs or long walks. Because of this his legs are pretty strong so he can run away, and he has a good amount of stamina; he doesn't tire easily.

Weaknesses:
Can't handle the cold: His dislike of the cold extends from the fact that he's unable to tolerate it. Because of his unnaturally high body temperature, he's unable to withstand cold temperatures as it quickly lowers his own, which can cause a variety of side effects, such as illness or the inability to function properly.
Doesn't work well with others: Although it's a good thing to rely on one's self, Zelimir takes it to the extreme. Oftentimes he has trouble listening to others' opinions, believing himself to be right most of the time. Because of this, he will often act on his own and ignore the inputs of others.
Bad sense of directions: It's something he tries to hide, but Zelimir has a talent for getting lost. Or simply forgetting which way he's supposed to go. It takes him much longer to find his destination, and, therefore, he's fashionably late on a number of occasions.

Goals:
To be able to resist being ordered around by having control over his wish-giving abilities. He's tired of being a tool for people, and wants to stop being used to better their own future in order to focus on his own.
To travel the world, or at least as much of it as he can.
To keep the friends that he's made, and to continue making new ones. Because of Zelimir's lifestyle, he hasn't often had the chance to make any lasting friendships (he was always on the move and didn't want to be taken advantage of again). He's made some pretty good friends during his time here, and he intends to keep them.
((Because Zelimir has little memories of his family, his friendships mean that much more to him because they fill up that void in his heart.))

Fears:
• One of Zelimir's biggest fear is he's scared of being used by people, particularly those who he feels especially close to. In the past, his ability to grant wishes has landed him into rather intense situations, some of which he had trouble getting away from.
• Despite being relatively wary of water, it's deep bodies of water that particularly frighten him. He tries to avoid the ocean, rivers, and the like as often as he can, which can be relatively difficult when he loves to travel. After learning to manipulate water, however, this fear is slowly decreasing...and it helps that his best friend is a water dragon.

Personality:
• Confident
• Independent
• Extroverted
• Arrogant
• Competitive
• Vain

Confidence is not something that Zelimir lacks. He has faith in himself and believes that he has the ability to make the best decision that the situation calls for. He is not one to do something half-hearted, and once he starts something, he will see it through to the bitter end. He is independant and doesn't rely on others to make decisions for him. He can stand on his own without any help. This confidence, however, goes a little too far on occasion, and he often comes off as arrogant. At times, he has a little too much faith in himself, and has trouble accepting the opinions of others when they are beneficial. This is especially noticeable in competitive atmospheres; he hates losing and will do everything that he can to win. And the times that he does lose (which does happen), he doesn't handle it gracefully. He has no trouble talking with others, as well as speaking his mind and sharing his thoughts. It doesn't even cross his mind to be nervous about what others will think of him; to be honest, he doesn't really care. He has high self-esteem and believes the best in himself. Self-image is really important to him, so don't be surprised that it takes more time than the average person to prep himself in the morning. He always has to look his absolute best.

History: (Will likely be rewritten)
Because he's been alive for so long, Zelimir's origin's are kind of cloudy to him. All he can remember about his earlier days is a dark enclosed space where he lived for the first several years of his life; his home.

Most people that walked by didn't give him a second glance, most likely due to the fact that they didn't even realize he was there. He lived on the streets, foraging for food and occasionally sneaking in and stealing from the wealthy homes that he stumbled across. It wasn't the ideal life, but he was content. He was living in freedom, after all. Something that he didn't realize was a luxury at the time.

A group of people passed by one day when he overheard one of them saying I wish... He reacted instinctively to those words, unable to resist the allure. When a tiger appeared in the middle of the street, people knew that something was up. Others there began to wish for grander things, such a money, jewels, a new coat... When all of these items magically appeared, someone realized that something was up. The streets were meticulously searched until they found the djinn in his dark and cozy home. A few tests later (using the magic of the words I wish...), it didn't take them long to determine exactly what Zelimir was. Without having any say in the matter, Zelimir was forced into servitude. He moved into another small, dark home...a home that he quickly began to hate.

And he also grew to hate the people that he served; a rich family of nobles. With a single I wish... they received what they asked for (within reason of course), and when things didn't turn out as expected, Zelimir was reprimanded for his actions...physically. That's around the time when he started to be able to harness fire. Those individuals stopped once they had the threat of being burned.

It took a number of years, but Zelimir was finally able to escape by tricking the heir into letting him go. He ran away at the first opportunity, and he burned the house that had imprisoned him for so many years without so much as looking back.

Zelimir spent a good number of his free years traveling; he's always wanted to see the world! He was taken in by the sights, and grew to love a great number of the countries he visited. However, he constantly feared being caught once again every time he heard the phrase I wish... This led to some of his visits being rather short.

Not wanting to put up with the struggle any longer, Zelimir allowed himself to feel a sliver of hope when he heard of a school for supernatural beings. Maybe there he would be able to finally control his wish granting. Or at least find some way to control and/or prevent it. Without a second thought, he enrolled, his fingers crossed as he awaited a reply...

Misc Information:
    • Zelimir is a bit of an open book. Even though he tries, he has trouble hiding his feelings. All it takes is one glimpse at his face to tell what the djinn is feeling.
    • Because of his travels, Zelimir has seen a lot of the eastern half of the world. He's been to most European countries and a good amount of Africa, but he's seen little to none of North and South America.
    •
Zelimir still has his signature braid...you just can't see it because, how I drew it, it's hiding behind his back.
•Because of the deal Zelimir made so that he'd be able to manipulate wind, the djinn is unable to swear. A gust of wind acts as a censor. He feels a bit embarrassed about it, so he does his best to refrain from cursing now.

CHARACTER RELATIONS

| Bullet; Green - Likes | Bullet; Black - Dislikes | Bullet; Blue - Unsure | Bullet; Yellow - Interested By | Bullet; Purple - Saddened By | Bullet; White - Fearful Of | Bullet; Pink - Crushing On | Bullet; Red - Love |

Clement (TheLostArts) - Bullet; GreenBullet; YellowBullet; Purple Zelimir has come to see Clement as one of his closest friends, although he has, sadly, not had a lot of time to speak with him lately. Clement's depressed mood made it difficult to find and talk with him, but the male seems to be slowly warming up again. The two have been speaking more often, although the conversation typically revolves around school. Zelimir is comfortable around Clement, although he is careful to watch his words, and his fire, around the puppet.

Leith (TheLostArts) - :bulletgreen::bulletgreen::bulletyellow: Despite having only known each other for a short period of time, Leith is easily Zelimir's best friend. Despite their opposite personalities, the two get along surprisingly well, and inspire the best in each other. Leith's emotions have become less guarded around the djinn, which he views as a personal accomplishment. Zelimir is slowly opening up to Leith in his own way as well; he's sharing information and a side of himself that he never thought he would show people. He's excited to learn more about his friend, and hopes that one day Leith will show him his dragon form (and teach him how to fence).

Iris (NejiRenji15) - :bulletblue: Having been in more than just a few classes together, it's no surprise that Zelimir's (finally) taken notice of her. He hasn't talked to her enough to form an opinion, but she seems reliable enough, remembering how she took lead when they had to work together. As a fellow elementalism student, Zelimir's pretty sure that she can't be a bad person. Although, because of her natural affinity for water, Zelimir feels as if he can't let his guard down around her...

ROLEPLAYING PREFERENCES::

Where do you like to roleplay? I like to rp through either notes or Skype. Both methods are easy for me to use, so, in the end, it's really up to the other person's preference.
Preferences or limits? None whatsoever.

Samples

    Script Sample:
    Zelimir:
*eyeing the male standing before him, the djinn felt as if he should know him.* I, uh... *Zelimir wracked his brain for the memory of where the two had met before, but was unable to conjure up the moment. Brown eyes intently watched him while he thought, sparkling with the hope of remembrance. The other party was clearly excited over the reunion, which would make Zelimir's next words feel like a slap to the face* I'm sorry: who are you?

    Lit Sample:

"If your future was set in stone, what might it be...." Zelimir repeated, as if saying the words aloud would reveal the answer. What would an unchanging future have in store of the djinn? He preferred to live in the moment, so Zelimir didn't often dwell on what the future might hold in store for him. Being forced to think about it, he was forced to accept the fact that he wasn't quite sure, and that he didn't have any expectations.

"I, uh...that's a tough question." Zelimir sighed, lightly rubbing the back of his neck. "Let's see...I definitely won't be spending my life at this school, that's for sure." He rambled in an attempt to stall for time. "What's my "ultimate outcome", though, as you so poetically put it..." He let out a soft sigh as an image began to form behind his closed eyes. "I can't imagine myself settling down in any one place for too long, so I'd probably spend all of my time traveling." He let out yet another sigh as his next words left a bitter taste in his mouth.

"I am a djinn, so there's the whole wish-granting thing. If there was such a thing as an unchanging future, the universe probably expects me to go around granting wishes because it's hard-wired in me." To Zelimir, this was an unpleasant future. The prospect of having to grant most everyone's wishes felt more like a burden than a blessing to the djinn, and he was suddenly glad that the future wasn't set in stone.
